Anawangin Cove Adventure

5/02/2012

Anawangin is a famous camping site in Zambales.  If you're up for challenge and adventure then you would definitely enjoy the experience of simple back to basics kind of living at the Anawangin cove.

My friends and I decided to go to Anawangin, Zambales for a summer getaway and Mhay's advance birthday celebration. We've been there twice already but the place never seem to run out of amazing things to offer.

How to get to Anawangin

Anawangin is just a four hour drive from Manila. You can take the Victory Liner Bus in Cubao or Monumento headed to Iba, Zambales. Another option is to take the bus bound for Olongapo, then ride on any bus going to Iba.

Get off at San Antonio, and from there, ride on a tricycle going to Pundaquit.

The tricycle driver (also our pre-arranged tour guide/boatman) was already at San Antonio Municipal Hall when we arrived. First, we went to the nearest market to buy some food, then we headed straight to barangay Pundaquit for the boat ride to Anawangin.

Where to Stay in Anawangin Cove

If you plan to have an overnight stay in Anawangin, be ready to sleep in a tent. You can bring your own tent or you can rent one from your boatman. There are no resorts in the area. Also, there's no cellphone signal and electricity in Anawangin. So you get to fully enjoy bonding with nature. The camping fee in Anawangin is P100 per person.

Swimming at Anawangin beach

Enjoy the water at Anawangin beach and go swimming with your  friends. Just be cautious of the strong undercurrent and the depth of the water. Don't ever drink and swim.

Island Hopping

Aside from Anawangin, we also visited Camara Island, an island famous for its white beach. Camara Island has a great view of the open ocean and amazing high rock formations.
