The Mind Museum, Taguig

9/06/2013

Do you happen to know the product when you blend Science with Art? Fortunately, I found an answer in The Mind Museum, Taguig. You may want to find that out too.

The Mind Museum is said to be the Philippines' first world-class science museum located in BGC, Taguig (a fast-rising central business district).

I've been wanting to visit The Mind Museum since its inception last year, but its location always turns me off whenever I think of visiting. Taguig is quite far from Marikina and the hassle of riding the MRT Line 3 really tires me. But I know someone owes me a date so without any questions asked, we've finally set foot to the country's most modern Science Museum.

The Mind Museum is divided into five main galleries: Universe, Atom, Earth, Life, and Technology.

The UNIVERSE Gallery

I would say that among the 5 galleries in the Mind Museum, the Universe gallery is my favorite. I just love the "Look at the Moon" interactive exhibit. You can see the moon upclose, which is very gorgeous, and control the moon’s different phases.

The highlights of the museum include life size replica of the dinosaur's skeleton (t-rex), the giant human brain model, the static ball (also available in the Philippine Science Centrum in Marikina City), the interactive wall display of the moon’s different phases and the Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibit.

Da Vinci The Genius

There's an ongoing exhibit of The Da Vinci-The Genius when we visited the museum. The exhibit showcases the works of Leonardo Da Vince as a painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, inventor and writer. It will take you back to the Renaissance period. The exhibit runs until September 30.

Even though the museum is smaller than what I thought, I actually enjoyed my afternoon in that place. I love the way the museum was designed and curated. It isn't just a Science Museum, but an exhibit of Art and Science created to penetrate a wider audience. Art and Science are presented in an engaging and amusing manner, not you typical boring museum. Most exhibits are interactive, and delightful for kids of all ages (well, it is still depends on your preference). I think anyone, no matter how old or educated, will discover reasons to wonder at the The Mind Museum, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. As for the fee, though I think it's a bit pricey, if you have kids or if you consider yourself a nerd or a geek then you will definitely enjoy the Mind Museum.

The Mind Museum also has an outdoor Science-in-the-Park. It's a playground with different themes. I'm sure kids would enjoy hanging out with their playmates there.
