3 Reasons to Love & Hate Alviera's [SANDBOX PAMPANGA]

2/13/2015
For leisure-goers and adrenaline junkies, one place I recommend visiting is Alviera’s Sandbox in Porac, Pampanga. While the place offers thrilling and heart-pounding activities, it may also bring you a very dizzying headache. Here are 3 reasons to make you love and hate Sandbox at the same time.

Sandbox Porac Pampanga Sandbox Alviera

1. Love and hate Sandbox's Location

Sandbox isn't far from Metro Manila. It is just an hour and a half drive from Katipunan, QC. We drove to Porac, Pampanga on a Sunday noon and arrived half past one. We were able to get there quickly by passing through NLEX, SCTEX and finally taking off at Porac exit. Traveling to Alviera was a breeze using a private car. However, I think it would be very difficult to go there via public transportation (if there's a route for it). We didn't see any public vehicles around Alviera. The location is convenient to those with private vehicles but would be very troublesome to public commuter.

2.  Love and hate the Heat

I love the outdoors, especially when it's sunny. A sunny weather would be perfect for Sandbox's outdoor activities. But, since Sandbox is located in Porac, Pampanga, a barren and lahar-stricken land, expect that it would be dusty and hot. So, if you don't fare well in heat, Sandbox is not for you. The super hot and humid weather makes it uneasy for anyone to stay long under the sun. I suggest going there early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Also, bring an extra shirt, cap, umbrella and sunblock to protect your skin from sun damage. There are cooling areas but not too many. It would have been better if there are trees around.

3.  Love and hate the limited number of Attractions

I love all Sandbox's attractions, specifically the Giant Swing, it's just awesome! However, they only have 6 major attractions to date, these include the Giant Swing, the Arial Walk, the Avatar One, the Adventure Tower, mini golf links and ATV/UTV rides. For the kids, they have slides, maze and large sandboxes to play around. I'm thinking if perhaps, they can add more activities because there isn't much anything to do after you have done most of the rides.

Here are some of Sandbox's attractions:

The Giant Swing

Sandbox' Giant Swing is the country’s tallest swing and the one I enjoyed the most. Each swing can accommodate 2 guests at a time. It creates a back and forth movement at 10-meter above the ground. This one's like Enchanted Kingdom's Anchors Away but only for two for this ride. Scary huh? Not really, it was just a stomach-churning ride.

The Adventure Tower

Sandbox's Adventure Tower is a 5-storey structure which serves as the main jump off point for rappelling, wall climbing, free fall and the roller coaster zipline. I tried the roller coaster zipline and I must say that it was one of the most uncomfortable rides of my life (lol). I've tried different ziplines before and those were refreshing rides. Unlike this one, it has this snaky loop that curves you up and down, left and right, leaving you feeling super dizzy after the ride. Staying true to its name, the roller coaster zip line will surely give you a roller-coaster like experience on a zipline.

Sandbox Porac Pampanga

Though Alviera's Sandbox still has a lot to improve on, perhaps more shade to shelter us from the sun and more attractions to make the most of the bare and vast land, there is no doubt that we definitely had fun trying out the rides and fooling around. It's fun to have a little adventure once in a while.

Heheh

    Nice photos though. :)
